One of the more unique attributes of Fur Reality is our immersive storyline. Those of you who are joining us again are already familiar with how it works, but for those of you who are new to it, here’s a quick run down!
If you want to get your paws on this year’s Pre-Reg tote bag, with our post-apocalyptic theme then you had better make sure to pre-reg! We get a limited number of bags each year and once we hit our cut off date, we can’t get more so don’t miss out!

Last year we set ourselves the task of having an animated intro for our opening ceremonies. This year, we’re doing it again! Our gold level attendees get a ton of awesome swag, but one of the more unique items is an appearance in the opening animation. Since this year’s theme is post apocalyptic, you can expect to see your character in a much beloved wastelander/mad max aesthetic!
Gold Level attendees get the animation appearance in addition to the Silver Level poster cameo! At the silver level, you get to show up in the I-Spy style poster. This year’s *burp* theme is *belch* inspired by dimension-hopping science, broh! Gotta get me some of that szechuan sauce.
We will be announcing a cut-off date soon, so make sure you don’t miss out!
Here’s a sneak peek at last year’s I-Spy
Another year over!
While we’re sad to see it go, our hard working staff can definitely use the rest!
I’d just like to take a moment to thank absolutely everyone for this year. You guys are what makes this show great. The sheer number of emails/facebook messages/twitter pms we get from people who talk about their first furry con and the wonderful, welcoming, friendly atmosphere that Fur Reality has all comes down to you guys, and the vibe that you bring to the show. This year our con (and all the furry cons) saw a lot of growth as new people were infusing into the fandom and you’ve made us extremely proud about the community we’re bringing them into.
Kudos to you!
I’d also like to take a moment to give a few special shout outs and thank yous to a few other folks.
First off, our guests! Aerokat, Uncle Kage, Alkali, Xander, Citrine (Ice Typ) and Vander.
Aerokat was our GOH, responsible for the designs of the T-shirts (which sold out), the give away poster this year (featuring our newest villain Lord Fusion) as well as the inks for the card game, Cryptid Codex. She’s also done similar for other years (remember our Into the Labyrinth shirt?)
Citrine and Vander were our special musical guests. Citrine hosted a number of musical and comedic panels. If you didn’t get time to see any of those I definitely recommend making it to future shows. Vander graciously pulled off our dead dog dance. We’ve had mixed results in the past about where and when to put the dance in order to make it successful. This year, we were quite surprised by the sheer number of people who stuck around, just to get their groove on!
As always, Uncle Kage, Alkali, and Xander proved a never ending source of amusement and laughter. Not only did they work their magic on their ever popular panels, but they actually jumped in and helped us on a few other ones! Seeing Alkali’s face when he realized what the Fur Reality Derby was is going to be one of my favorite memories for a long…long time.
Now for some numeric break downs!
Total Attendees: 515!!! Up from 385 last year (approximately 39% growth)
Interesting tidbit, we had over 60% pre-reg rate. That means the folks who come to the show -know- they don’t want to miss it, and that means a LOT to us, you guys!
Suiters in the Parade: Approximately 89 ‘official’ suiters, as in the ones who made it to the parade in time for the photo. Quite a few more made it in through the doors at the last few moments but it was after we had finished the official count.
Money Raised for Charity: Approximately $5682 (The charity is double checking the -exact- amount but that was the at-table count at the end of the show.)
Over $2500 came from the charity auction
Another $2500 from the donations and purchases made at the OAR table.
The rest from our various charity-raising panels!
We’re pinning down exact numbers on everything with the charity shortly, but we wanted to share that in the meantime! For those of you who don’t know our charity was the Ohio Alleycat Resource. They are a no-kill shelter who helps to get cats spayed and neutered, as well as provide much needed fostering, medical attention and care for cats. They also pull many cats from other shelters that are kill shelters, often with special medical needs. The money that you guys raised for them is going to go a LONG way in helping Ohio’s cats.
We’ll be posting more stuff shortly, including answers to the puzzle books, eye-spy poster and more. For now though…some much needed sleep!
It takes a whole lot of work to run a convention. We have a great staff who work extremely long shifts to make sure everything runs smoothly. Those of you who help out and contribute by filling in the gaps for us are always appreciated. This year, we’re working to make sure there’s even more incentive for all you awesome folks!
